Major Airline Shows T.J. Hooker
Episode
All international flights in the
month of September will feature classic episode "A Child
Is Missing"
World
Wide Web - A major airline based in the North American continent
has made the decision to air a classic episode of T.J. Hooker
as part of its in-flight entertainment for the month of September
according to an anonymous spokesperson. The episode, "A Child
Is Missing," will be aired as part of an '80s Cop Show special
on the airline's September drama broadcast.
According
to sources that must remain anonymous due to legal issues, the
episode will be shown exclusively to first class business passengers
on all international flights for the entire month of September.
Lending
a hand to this remarkable bit of entertainment history, the staff
of TJ-Hooker.com helped the airline's entertainment bookers with
their choice.
"We
were approached back in May by a representative from the airline,
who asked us for a list of our favorite episodes," TJ-Hooker.com
webmaster 4Adam30 stated during a telephone interview from the
TJ-Hooker.com offices. "We gave them five episodes. Of course,
'The Return' was at the top of the list. But 'A Child Is Missing'
was a close second."
Columbia
Tri-Star Entertainment, the production company which owns the
rights to the T.J. Hooker episodes, reportedly only offered clearance
for two episodes: "A Child Is Missing" and "Vengeance
is Mine," which co-stars Leonard Nimoy as Hooker's old partner
Paul McGuire.
The
airline
chose "A Child Is Missing" based on the enthusiastic
recommendation from the TJ-Hooker.com Staff.
Upon
hearing the news, TJ-Hooker.com staffer Jim Corrigan reacted by
calling it TJ-Hooker.com's ". . . finest hour." Johnny
Durrell, TJ-Hooker.com's editor, content provider and lead poll
writer was excited by "(the airline's) advertising potential,"
stating that he thought a TJ-Hooker.com banner ad promoting the
episode "could literally get a couple people to fly their
airline."
The
tide turned quickly at the last minute when TJ-Hooker.com representatives
found out that the airline refused to allow their name to be used
on TJ-Hooker.com - or on any site other than their own.
"I
don't know what they're afraid of," 4Adam30 stated. "They
said it had something to do with 'conflict with their brand.'
The way I see it, it's free publicity for them. It's absolutely
ludicrous. It's not even that they're embarrassed to have their
name associated with T.J. Hooker, it's that they do not allow
their name to be used anywhere other than their own site."
4Adam30
went on to state that ". . . we did them a favor by recommending
an episode for them to show. We took valuable time out of our
production schedule to do this. And now we find out that we can't
promote it? People are dying to see T.J. Hooker, and yet we can't
divulge the name of this major North American continental airline.
I think our readers deserve to know the truth."
"A
Child Is Missing" chronicles the kidnapping of Brian Randall,
a small boy who is taken against his will to Mexico by crooked
David Berk and his stripper girlfriend Paula. Hooker takes his
personal vacation time to fly down to Mexico and meet with detective
Miguel Gomez (played by Henry Darrow) in order to bring Brian
back and Berk to justice. Featuring a stop at Popeye's strip club,
an incredible Hooker final confrontation with Berk, and the infamous
refrigerator sequence, "A Child Is Missing" is the all-time
favorite episode of TJ-Hooker.com staff member Jim Corrigan.
