Shatner
Supports Hooker on Celebrity Millionaire
All-Aaron Spelling Edition Celebrates
a TV Classic
ABC
TV - On February 13, 2002, William Shatner appeared on a special
Aaron Spelling edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
[web
site >] on
which he was the sole representative of Spelling Entertainment's
'80s cop show T.J. Hooker.
Shatner
began his time on Millionaire on the February 11 episode
along with several other Spelling show stalwarts such as Stephen
Collins (7th Heaven), Shari Belafonte (Hotel), Cheryl
Ladd (Charlie's Angels), and the insipidly verbose Bernie
Kopell (The Love Boat).
Due
to Shatner's inability to best his competitors in any of the preliminary
rounds, he was forced to make his run for the million dollars
last out of the group. Things looked bleak for Shatner's appearance;
Bernie Koppell, whose run for the million immediately preceded
Shatner's, rambled on so much during his questions and answers
that Shatner was forced to play with an absolute minimum of between-question
banter.
The
highlight of Shatner's appearance was, of course, the obligatory
T.J. Hooker clip shown between commercial breaks. Featuring
a finger-pointing soliloquy from a season 2 episode, it did not
disappoint.
Playing
for the Hollywood Charity Horse Show [web

charity.
