"The Witness"

WHAT SAID:

Hooker tries to persuade a frightened woman to testify against a psychotic murderer.

SYNOPSIS:

Cal Jastrow and Danny Scott break into a house and rob it, but as they are making their escape, the owner returns and Danny shoots him. The shooting is witnessed by Allison Baker and her boss, Neil Stoner, as they are driving by. Hooker and Romano are called to the shooting site and find the man dead. Meanwhile, Cal and Danny discuss their plan to get rid of Allison before she can talk to the police. Hooker and Romano visit Allison at her apartment that evening after the neighborhood milkman identifies her. She agrees to identify Danny in a line-up. However, Hooker has no case unless Allison will testify in a hearing. Allison does testify but Danny's boss provides an alibi, and Danny is set free. Now Allison's life is in danger and Hooker is unable to get police protection for her, so he arranges for Vicki to stay with her until he's off duty. While Hooker is out trying to locate Danny and Cal, Danny breaks into Allison's apartment. He knocks out Vicki and is about to kill Allison when Hooker arrives in time to save her and capture Danny in the process.
