"The Cheerleader Murder"

WHAT SAID:

The murder of a high-school cheerleader leads Hooker to an illegal abortion clinic and a porno-film ring.

SYNOPSIS:

While on patrol, Hooker and Romano spot Lester Penn hot wiring a car. Stacy and Corrigan join the chase of the stolen car and capture Lester when he crashes. Stacy notices the trunk of the car has popped open and inside is the body of sixteen-year old Gloria Neely. The coroner's examination reveals that she was a heavy cocaine user and recently had an abortion. Hooker and Romano question a young pusher, Tommy Carmel, who says Gloria had a $200 habit and that she made porno movies to pay for her drugs. They also learn from Gloria's best friend Lisa that the doctor who performed the abortion had a first or last name of Adam. Hooker comes up with the name Adam Garwood, M.D. who lost his license and now works out of a phony reducing clinic. Garwood manages to warn Miles Dixon, head of the porno racket, before the police arrive. Hooker's next lead takes him to a local disco where known pornography producers hang out. With Lisa's help, Dixon is apprehended. He in turn fingers George Laslo, head of the porno racket and Hooker and Romano take him into custody as well.
