"The Throwaway"
Corrigan is accused of planting a "throwaway" gun on a suspect he shot while investigating a series of box-office heists.
A silent alram is tripped at a local concert theatre in the midst of a robbery and the assailants escape on motorcycles, after setting off a bomb. Corrigan believes that Willie Donovan is involved. Later, when he and Stacy are out on patrol, they spot Donovan in the act of committing another robbery. Stacy stops to call for backup and Corrigan pursues Donovan, who winds up being shot dead. Problems arise when the gun Donovan was using is traced back to the department robbery room which was in Corrigan's custody when he worked there. When Corrigan gets assigned to desk duty, Hooker looks up ex-con Jess Parish who names Harry Separas as a pro in the explosives field. Hooker then learns that all places robbed were on the route of the Pacific Security Armored Truck Company and all were hit prior to their pickup time. After another robbery occurs, Hooker strikes gold when he visits a motorcycle shop and learns the owner, Shay Sturges, was a driver for Pacific Security. When Corrigan recognizes a picture of Harry Separas and tells Hooker they both worked the salvage boat that dumped the guns, Hooker realizes Separas must have returned to the dump site to retrieve the guns, and he takes Sturges into custody. They finally come up with enough evidence to clear Corrigan and discover a map for the next heist and arrive just in time to apprehend Separas.
