Corrigan gives serious consideration to leaving the force after pulling the trigger in two fatal shootings.

SYNOPSIS:

On a tip from an informant, Hooker, Corrigan, Stacy, and secret serviceman Lt. Komack stake out a warehouse, hoping to capture ex-con John Simone and his partners involved in a counterfeiting operation. As the bust occurs, Hooker crashes his car into the building but Simone gets away. Tony Reno, the informant, is killed in the crossfire by Corrigan. Corrigan, filled with remorse, begins to reflect on his choice of career. Meanwhile, Hooker learns that Simone worked with Paulie Morrie. Hooker tracks him down as he is about to pass some of the counterfeit money. Paulie grabs a hostage just as Corrigan maneuvers into firing position. Corrigan fires, killing Paulie and freeing the hostage. Corrigan decides he needs some time off. Meanwhile, a search of Paulie's car produces two envelopes of phoney bills with the address of the El Rancho Motel. Hooker and Lt. Komack arrive at the motel and engage in a gun battle with Simone, who manage to escape leaving behind his accomplice, Marty. Marty agrees to help after being taken into police custody. After taking some time off, Corrigan returns to the investigation and agrees to pose as a dealer with $100,000 in real money. After Marty sets up a meeting between Simone and Corrigan, he and Corrigan go to the Towers Hotel. Simone arrives, trades suitcases with Corrigan, and flees to his car in the underground parking garage. Driving straight toward Hooker and Corrigan, he crashes, allowing Corrigan to make the arrest.
