"Taps for Officer Remy"
Hooker
probes the "murder" of an officer (Robin Dearden) who was
once his lover.
When Hooker learns that an old flame, Officer Karen Remy, is the victim of a shot gun murder, Hooker decides to get involved in the investigation even though he has been warned against it. Hooker contacts Karen's partner John Reed, believing that Karen was working on a case. Reed denies knowing anything about her case so Hooker questions one of Karen's best informants. In the ensuing fight, Hooker takes a bullet in the shoulder and the informant is killed before giving Hooker any information. Hooker winds up being suspended for disobeying orders so he confronts the police chief with his suspicions regarding a coverup. The chief levels with hooker and fills him in on the details. Karen and Reed had been working undercover with the F.B.I. when Reed went bad. Karen turned Reed in and her murder was setup in order to protect her. Knowing Karen is safe, Hooker volunteers to work with the task force to bust Reed when he receives a tip that a transaction is about to take place on Reed's boat. Karen arrives first, having planned on being there for the bust, and Reed abducts her. Hooker arrives and manages to get on Reed's boat where he is knocked unconscious. Coming to, Hooker is able to over power Reed and throws him into the water. With Reed behind bars, Hooker and Karen slip aaway to rekindle their relationship.
