play the game!

instructions

STREETSCUM SWEEPER : F.A.Q.

"All I get is a blank screen--I don't think this game works."

Did you let it sit and load for a couple minutes? This game is actually a Java applet, and slightly over 200K in size, at that. It might take 2-3 minutes to load and initialize, especially if you're using a 56k modem connection.

"No, really, the game never shows up. Sometimes all I get is some weird message that looks like programming code."

Are you using a 3.0 version browser or higher? Since this game is written in the Java programming language, you need to use a browser that's capable of handling Java. Sorry, WebTV viewers--you won;t be able to play Streetscum Sweeper yet.

If your browser fits the above requirements, and you know something else is up, please email Det. Pete O'Brien.

"Okay, the game's loaded, I've heard the theme music and everything. I try to hit any key to begin, and it just sits there."

Make sure to click your mouse pointer somewhere on the game window. This will make the Java applet "active" so that it will be able to accept commands from the keyboard.

"Now that I can play the game, it moves too fast! I can't even get past the first level."

Did you read the instructions? If not, here's a little refresher: This is a turn-based game, meaning that once you make a move, the crooks make a move, but don't move again until you make another move. This way, after every move you make, you may pause and get your bearings before making another choice. If you keep moving quickly without stopping to take a look around you, the crooks will undoubtedly kill you instantly. Make your moves one at a time, slowly, until you've become comfortable with the game.

"Can I save my high scores?"

Nope. You can take a screen shot of them, though.

"What are all the characters saying?"

Stacy: "Ta Da!" (from "Carnal Express," when she reveals her exotic dancer outfit to Hooker, Romano, and Corrigan)

Corrigan: "Everything changes, Hooker." (from "The Return," when he waxes philosophic with Hooker before Hooker walks off into the sunset on the beach)

Romano: "Hands on your head!" (from "The Survival Syndrome," during his first bust after conquering his fear of danger on the streets)

Hooker: "Police! Everybody out of the way!" (from "Chinatown," when Hooker and Romano break up a holdup at a chicken fight)

"Who are the crooks?"

Tori Spelling : Daughter of Aaron Spelling, co-producer of T.J. Hooker and star of "Beverly Hills, 90210." Appeared in "Grand Theft Auto" alongside Delta Burke.

Officer Roper : Played by Grant Goodeve of "Eight is Enough." Evil cop whose vigilante tactics come under fire from Hooker -- literally -- in "Blue Murder." Also has a thing for Stacy, and gets in bar fight with Corrigan over it.

Troy: Part of the Bonnie & Clyde-esque team who hold up convenience stores in the Christmas episode "Slay Ride." His performance achieves a new level in over-acting.

Marjoe Gortner : Perennial '80s-television bad guy, appeared in "Slay Ride" as Troy's boss and "Lag Time" as Jack Lewis.

The One-Handed Man: Arch-rival of T.J. Hooker. Haunts Hooker's dreams. Killed Hooker's old partner Johnny Durrell. Finally brought to justice by Hooker in the penultimate Hooker episode, "The Return."

Back to the Game!
